This collection well represents our band in 2001, emphasizing high energy
rock and punk songs. With Nick Jennings on
drums, and the youthful voices of Zak and Mason (they were 12 and 9 when
we began recording), these cuts capture a unique time and sound for us.

Here's a song about the magic of meeting those special people we're lucky to encounter. Mason's drumming, with
Zak on bass, and Hal playing guitar and singing. Here are the lyrics.
We recorded this in November 2003.
More about My
Future As Your Past mp3
My Future As Your Past is K's more recent recording, released in September
2003. Zak played bass, with Mason on the drums. Hal sang and
played guitar. Each wrote the parts they performed. The
lyrics are autobiographical, especially poignant for parents, exploring
the bittersweet goodbyes of life.
More about Opposite
mp3
Mason wrote Opposite in 2002. He played guitar and sang, with Hal
on bass, and Zak on lead guitar.
This song was written by, and features, an 11 year old! We bet you
won't believe that after listening to it, but it's true.
More about Leave Me Alone
mp3 (santized)
mp3 (uncensored) This is
a punk rock song, inspired by the joy of waking up early for school.
Hal's still laughing about this one--after all those years of my kids waking
me up at the crack of dawn, now they're complaining! If you don't
like raw, expressive language there's a version "sanitized for the radio,
proper, and fainted hearted folk." We prefer the uncensored rendition.
Zak wrote and sang this one, and played lead guitar, with Mason on rhythm
guitar, Hal on bass, and Nick Jennings on
drums.
More about El Scorcho mp3
El Scorcho was written by Rivers Cuomo and originally recorded by his band,
Weezer
We play it a bit faster than they, and the youthful vocals were especially
entertaining to UCSB students familiar with Weezer's recording. Zak
and Mason sing and play guitar, with Hal on bass and Nick
Jennings on drums.
More about Hold On mp3
Green Day
wrote and first recorded this upbeat, "hang in there" song. It's
a good one to listen to when things seem dark and hopeless. Zak plays
bass, Mason's plays lead guitar, Hal sings and plays rhythm guitar, and
Nick
Jennings pounds the drums.
More about Dammit
mp3
Written by Tom DeLonge & Mark Hoppus, this song made Blink182
famous. For our version, Zak sang and played lead guitar, with Mason
on rhythm guitar, Hal on bass, and Nick
Jennings on drums. The refrain is perfect for K: "I guess this
is growing up."

Pipe mp3
Can you believe we played this one in schools, and at a fundraiser for
the local sheriff's campaign? Fortunately for us, those inclined
toward censorship usually ignored the lyrics, captivated and blinded by
the grinding, heavy groove. MTV called this one H-Pipe to escape
the moral majority's wrath when the authors, Rivers Cuomo
and Weezer made it famous.
This was a favorite 'round UCSB. Zak and Mason sang and played guitar,
with Hal on bass and Nick Jennings on drums.
More about Epiphanymp3
Although we really liked the original version of this song, written and
recorded by Staind,
our rendition evolved to be quite different, adding percussion and environmental
sounds that matched the music, and altering the chord structure a bit.
Hal sang and played guitar, Zak did bass, Mason played keyboard,
and Nick Jennings handled drums.
More about Sweater
Song mp3
This party song's a favorite in our home town of Isla Vista, a college
community known for it's unsurpassed social life. It was written
and originally recorded by Weezer.
For our version, Zak and Mason sang and played guitar, with Hal on bass
and Nick Jennings on drums. Party on!

In a long term relationship? If so, you can probably relate to
the ambivalence so clearly articulated by this song written by Phil
Collins. In our version, Zak plays bass, Mason's plays
lead guitar, Hal sings and plays rhythm guitar, and
Nick
Jennings beats the drums.

Time mp3
(by )
This song, written by Dan Wilson and originally recorded bySemisonic,
is a portrait of nights end, as the bars close down. Zak played bass, with
Mason on piano and Nick Jennings on drums.
Hal sang and played guitar. This was our first recordings and is less polished
than those that followed, but still worth a listen.
More about The
Star Spangled Banner mp3
Hal's arrangement and solo-guitar rendition of Francis Scott Key's
song was inspired by the 9/11 terrorist attack.
