Hal S. Kopeikin, Ph.D.

Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Private Practice

Personal & Professional Background

I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico 47 years ago.  Most of the time I've lived in Santa Barbara and Goleta, with briefer stays in Seattle, Virginia, Santa Monica, Malibu, and West LA. I've been married 24 years, have three children and various pets. When not playing with my family or working, I can usually be found on my computer, making music, kayaking, mountain biking, or snowboarding.

After receiving my Bachelors Degree from UCSB, I attended graduate school at UCLA, graduating in 1984 with a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I trained and worked in a dozen clinics, hospitals, and schools before opening a private practice 15 years ago. Details of my work history appear in my curriculum vita.

For almost 20 years I've been teaching and conducting research at UCSB.  I've also taught at Antioch and Pacifica Graduate Institute, organized a Depression Treatment and Research Center, served on the Board of Directors for the Santa Barbara Mental Health Association, been the Webmaster for the Isla Vista Elementary School, and coached soccer teams.  I'm currently a member of the American Psychological Association and licensed as a psychologist in California.
