I check my email regularly (many times most days)
By telephone 805 886-0007
-
I'm often available by phone. Sometimes I listen to the messages coming
in while I'm doing paperwork, and will pick up the phone to speak with
clients. So, be sure to leave a message when my answering service invites
one.
-
Messages left on that number are confidential and typically receive prompt
replies.
-
Let me know how you like to handle confidentiality when I return your call
-
Is your phone and answering machine private, or should I be discrete?
-
Should I leave a message if you're not there?
-
Should I identify myself as Hal? Dr. Kopeikin?
-
When are good times to reach you?
-
To reach me faster, allow caller ID for your call to me
-
press *82 and wait for a dial tone before dialing 886-0007
-
this allows the caller-ID features of my phone to notify me of your call
-
this often helps me get back to you more quickly, or even pick up the phone
while you're still on it because I see you're calling
-
it doesn't cost anything to use *82
More About Confidentiality
-
Communication with a psychologist is privileged, protected by State and
Federal law. I've written more about that here.
There are some technological limitations, though: Internet communications
such as email are theoretically less secure than phones, and I use a cell
phone at times which, although encrypted, is considered slightly less secure
than a land line. Frankly, I think these technological limitations
are insignificant. I'm more concerned about security involving messages
I leave for you, and therefore hope you'll let me know about any privacy
constraints on your end.
